Hi,

Ive been looking at the Torc Anchor or the Maxi Shackle to secure my mtb to the side of my house. Basically I have sort of small shed on the side of my house without the door, it's only accessible from my garden and I want to keep my bike in there. I'll bolt either a Maxi Shackle to the house wall or I can bolt an Anchor to the floor. I have kept it in the spare room but it's a pain taking through the house and up the stairs etc.

Anyone use the Torc stuff, do you use anything else or are there any other decent anchors/shackles ?

Thanks.

if the bikes worth anything i'd carry on keeping it in the house if i were you.

got mine nicked about a month ago and as it was stolen from inside the house, it classified as 'contents' and therefore got a full pay out on it.

wouldn't of got anywhere near the same if it had of been outside, even with the 'bike insurance' add on to the policy. would of been substantially out of pocket unless i'd had a specific policy from a specialist insurer.

might be a pain in the harris caryying youre bike to the spare room, but its a bigger pain not having a bike!

@ sofaboy73, Just out of interest, did you have a bike declared on the insurance or was it just basic contents policy you were covered on. Reason I ask is, I keep my bike in the house and its never left outside anywhere. I'm wondering if its even worth me renewing the bike policy on my home insurance.

i use the torc stuff and it is amzing quality.. as good as almax security..

depending on what bike you have and the value of it. i would use both the maxi shackle and the anchor. and pair it with some of their chains to or almax security chains..

was your bike locked up in the house ?

Nope just went as standard contents. I'm guessing it differs from insurance company to company, but with direct line they classify anything in the house as contents and have a limit per item of 15k (unless valuables - jewellery etc). Would of been a different story though if it had of been nabbed outside the house, would of got £1500 instead of the 5k they overvalued my bike at!
