What lights do you use? I would like LED lights small and robust enough to be able to leave on the bike all the time but bright enough to be seen by at dusk etc.
Thinking something along the lines of the Blackburn Voyager but interested to know what else you are all using?
This comes on the back of purchasing some very cheap and nasty lights from Aldi that are worse than useless!
Thanks.

DX cheapies... just over £2 each. One clipped on my pack, one as a spare in my pack, and another in reserve.Vitus Sentier VR+ (2018) GT Grade AL 105 (2016)

Thanks they are on the same lines as the Aldi ones I bought for £4.99 ... Found the mount brackets terrible - especially the front as they are not wide enough to get around the bars anywhere other than up towards the grip.0

For bright, get a Moonshield, charges off a USB, internal rechargeable battery, 60 lumens lights up the road behind, that and it's light and comes with a great rubber mounting.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

Riding with the sunset behind you, you're not going be be seen with any of those lights. If the Aldi type 5 led ones aren' sufficient then the small cheap single units are going to be far worse. The smaller lights only become useful once the sun has completely gone down and darkness starts to fall.0

Have you tried these smaller lights? I have the Skull ones as pointed out - they run off two 3v batteries and are extremely piercing.0

Ditto - I have the Smart minis linked to above - stupidly cheap and extremely bright to be seen by - better than big lights I have paid more money for... Not much good for seeing where you are going though as they are a pinpoint light for brightness which doesnt light the road really.0

I have indeed, several of them on our bikes. They are good for their size (especially once its dark for low speed riding), but i'd not rely on being seen with them with the sun at a low angle, they just aren't big enough or powerful enough (especially for other road users to see you). Of course there are other means of making yourself visible beyond a few small lights.0 -
Maybe, but you said they were worse than the Aldi 5 LED - I disagree, I think they are somewhat brighter.
One advantage is that you can buy several as are so cheap - come fitted with batteries (and only weigh 15g) so could put one on yourslef, one on the seatpost, one on the chainstay etc.
I am actually taking of my multi LED lamp by Raleigh in favour of the onOne Skull!0 -
Thanks for all your suggestions. Some great options there, still considering the best to suit my type of riding but this gives me something to go by.
Cheers!0 -
