Bash guard for Talon 2 29er

Hi,

In the process of going single speed up front, chain slipped off and was hanging off my crank on my commute to work this morning - think I need to finish my job on this before I take it to a track again soon.

I want a bash guard but can't afford that and a chain guide, would a bash guard help keep my chain in place?

I have a Giant Talon 2 29er: http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-us/bik ... 041/48916/

Would these fit it and help me out?

Or is there a decent bash guard/guide combo that is about that price or a bit cheaper?

I know I need a crank extractor to get the cranks out, will those above fit?

I appreciate any help as I'm a total noob and need to do things myself as not the wealthiest of chaps to take it to a bike shop!

re fit the front mech and lock it off over the single ring (use the stop scews) and save your cash.

Unfortunately I buggered that when I took it off, I might be able to salvage it though. Otherwise are there any decent chain guides I can get?

Depends on how secure you want it as to which one to get (and also if you chain tabs for an ISCG mount)

The XCR Single ring guid should suit and you might find the seat-tub mounted one easier to fit than faffing about with taking out the BB so you can fit the BB mount...

Certainly cheaper and safer for me to use the tube mounted one, thanks. :)
