I'm not sure about Aston Hill but I visited Coombe Hill last week to follow the route in WMB and most of the ground was wrecked from the rain.

Coombe Hill is mostly clay and so the water made it a nightmare. Especially going downhill you would have no grip = no brakes... Not sure if Aston Hill is clay though but they're very near each other ^_^

    I'm not from the area.

Went out last night at Coombe Hill/Whiteleaf Cross and as BenKxK has said, it's bloody awful especially on downhills ... clay/chalk when wet = no grip and brakes are useless.
Aston Hill is just round the corner, so would guess it would be the same. Although it is drying up a bit today, I live just up the road from there.
Maybe call them and ask what conditions are like?
Stop ... Stop .... there's something wrong with the bike !!!
reality: I'm shagged and I need a break

Aston hill is horrible in the rain. It's the chalk that does it! From what I remember DH3 isn't too bad and the cambered rooty sections are good, but the rest is gnarly as hell.
