Installing new cassette...spacer?

I am installing a new cassette (10sp, XT 11-32) - it has come with a small black plastic spacer.
Where do I install this? The 9sp Deore cassette it is replacing doesn't have a spacer.
Help required.

UPDATE - the old Deore cassette does have a spacer between the 3rd & 4th smallest sprockets."Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes
