Stumpy FSR

Hi, was looking into buying a second hand Stumpy frame on ebay and I noticed that there were 2 different suspension set ups. It doesn't appear to be a year/model thing, so I was wondering what was the thinking behind the 2 framsets?

I know the newer frames are offering 140mm travel, but I'm more interested in the 120mm frame, and would like to know which are the benefits of the older type of frames with regards to the rear shock positioning?
