BHF Night Rides

A friend and I signed up for the London to Brighton night ride in a few weeks time.
The ride information has started to come through and there's a page listing all the regulations your lights and reflectors have to conform to otherwise they won't let you start. It's a generic leaflet for all of their night rides.
I'm pretty sure my Cateye rear light isn't kitemarked, and my Magicshine front light and Joystick helmet light certainly aren't.
I can probably find a red rear reflector to stick on the back somewhere but my SPDs don't have reflectors (although my shoes have reflective panels on the heels).
Does anyone know how strict they are with checking all this?
Do they just have a look at you and if you can be seen a mile off regardless they let you go?

I did the manchester to Blackpool last year and the marshals were checking you had lights but that was it really they did not insist on helments (when i asked it was because they are "pro choice") Anyway, I think it's really for you to feel safe with your kit and you will be fine.
Also doing the London to Brighton which is this weekend, looking forward to it, not the drive back up,North afterwards though.
