all the kmc chains i had over the years have always come with the masterlink.

If you are buying the Z99 aftermarket, then yes (comes with Missing link CL566R - reusable!).

If the chain came with your bike (new), it may NOT have a masterlink. For Z99, we often provide pins to OEMs.

X9 always comes with a Missing link.
