Afternoon all, im looking into a bag for my bike, mainly for it to live in the house, keep the other half happy  , but also to travel mainly in my friends car if im not using my van, just means i can fit more in to the van aswell.
any sugestions ie sizes etc,Ive looked at a few online such as wiggle or crc just oppinions of what you have would be handy, and the EVOC is a bit to steep in price for me to justify :(
I ride a commencal meta 5.5 team if this is any help,
Thanks in advance
Matt

what car does your mate have ?? as you may struggle to fit bike bags in it.. we can just about squeeze the bike bags into the back of the pug partner combi van with the seats down.. and that's with them stood up side by side being a van it is quite tall...

just for storage duties and that then the likes of those crc bags will be fine..

i have one of these and have used it on many trips to whistler and it's been fine,

not a patch on the evoc bags though.. if you gonna travel especially airports then you cant go wrong with a evoc bag they really are that much better.. they actually stand up on there own and you can actually pull it via the wheels without it falling over and taking every one out in the checkin que.

another thing were the evoc bag wins is you dont have to dismantle as much on the bike..

i can imagine it being a pain in the arse having to keep rebuilding your bike everytime you want to go for a ride then having to dissmantle it again after so it fits in the bag...

bags are good for travel ie going away airplanes coaches etc. but personally i could'nt be bothered with the mither of keeping my bike in one....

as for size i can get any of my bikes in both bags. the 160mm travel bike in the evoc bag and the dh bike in the ultra bag.. had the dh bike in the evoc bag to..

and once again if you gonna travel alot with the bag then you will not regret the extra cost of a evoc bike bag.. it the best thing i got for traveling with ( for my bike)

The car is a focus st, tbh i will usually be using the van for the ease of things but as its a works van its full of toolboxes so a bag would make it easier to fit 3 or at a push 4 bikes in rather than the 2 it does now,
there is a crc own brand bag very similar to the EVOC and its got 50% off atm,http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=66022
the reason for the bag is the bike lives inthe house as the shed has seen better days and living on an end terrace acess to the shed is very easy, compared to living mid terrace, and also the other half is sick of me catching the doorframes with the pedals etc. With the bike packe din a bad it frees up space in a room rather than it being on a stand unless im working on it,

would hanging it on the wall with a storage hook work.. i have my bikes hung on storage hooks they free up space and enable me to get more bikes in....

for just storing your bike and traveling with the car like you say you would getaway with a cheaper bag.. it's only when you have to navigate through airports that the likes of the evoc comes into its own..

for me personally it would be the constant stripping of the bike to fit it into the bag that would be issue. not only the time to do it but the possible wear to the bike constantly undoing bolts and tightening them up uverytime you go out riding then return...

to fit the bike in the bag you have to remove the wheels, pedals, bars then it would be advisalbe to remove the rear mech and the brake discs to prevent them getting damaged.. and possibly the crank to depending if you have a bash guard or not, (you could run the risk of bending the teeth on the chainring..

the past few years webeen going to canada we can squeeze and i mean squeeze 3 bike bags and the cases into the back of the pug partner.. but nothing else will fit in..
i would not like to say if a bikebag with a bike inside it would fit inside a focus it would be a tight squeeze...
