Hi everyone
I'm new this forum but not mountaintbiking and need some guidance. At the moment I have a rockhopper pro 2009 and like it, but so does my wife, she also has a rockhopper but it's a lesser spec. We ride together once a week which is nice but I also ride with some friends which is where it gets competetive and brings me to my need for help. As I said I like my pro and it has a few upgrades to it already. But not wanting to waste money should I keep the rockhoppers and just improve each when it needs it or buy a better frame HT or FS and let my wife have the pro. I know for most off my rides a HT is fine but if I went FS I would have a choice of bikes I would have a budget of £1000 could possibly go to £1500 but would then have to use 2nd parts mainly to start with
thanks

If they are the same year then the frames are the same. I suppose the decision is do you want/need a FS.0

Get rid of the wife, and you'll have more money, so can buy more bikes, and work on them in the lounge in your underwear drinking beer.
Simple.I don't do smileys.

Chunkers one frame is 2009 the other is unsure as it was just bought as a frame

Could you keep both the rockhoppers (swapping any good bits of yours for lesser bits off your wifes where possible).
Then get yourself something like this lovely Trance @ £1429:

That way your wife gets her rockhopper 'upgraded with good bits' off yours. You have your (downgraded) rockhopper to use for rides with the wife etc and you have the Trance for nice rides with your mates.0
