Seems like Ive been wearing these lyrcra shorts for 'bout 3 weeks now, Tenne padded shorts. They seem to smell fine still :) but this seems too good to be true, could it be that Im jsut not picking up their aroma and really I smell like animal dung? How long does your lycra go without a wash? (honestly)

    Really 3 weeks

Shorts get a wash/rinse after every ride, tops at the moment every ride as the roads are so wet and muddy but normally I will get 2 rides from a top.
  • Phewwwww..

    Washed every ride !
All the gear, but no idea...

After three weeks they'll probably walk to the washing machine on their own....

Shorts, top and socks get a wash after every ride. Mits go a little longer.

It may be worth giving your shorts to your wife, mom, child....or other to smell. I get the feeling they will have a different opinion.

    Nasty !!!!!

After three weeks of your sweaty ass in them, they're not going to be pleasant !!! I suspect they're riddled with bacteria (assuming that they've not packed up and left !).

Mine go in the wash after every ride.

The OP did not say if he was going commando. If not then that could be the reason for no pong!

still going to pong even with pants underneath. 3 weeks worth of sweat&fart will make its way through to the pants pretty quickly.

He doesn't say how often he's ridden over those 3 weeks or how far. Maybe he's only ridden around his garden twice in those 3 weeks.

Don't wash them, put them on ebay. There's bound to be a specialist market that'll pay a premium for 'matured' used clothing, then buy yourself a new pair. Repeat indefinitely.

Yes I do go commando. I cycle about 40mins per day and I generally dont sweat much at all. But I do admit 3 weeks is a long time none-the-less. Im wondering if these shorts have some sort of anti-bacterial enchantment woven into them.

Funny thing is I sniff all my clothes and after around 3-6 days I will detect aromas on all other items like over-shorts, t-shirt, socks, and change them accordingly, but not my Tenn Lycra shorts. I do have another pair of lycra which is Muddy Fox and have to change them after a mere 1-2 weeks.

Three weeks of exercising for 40mins per day, and your questioning whether you should change your shorts ?!?!!?

I was going to ask whether you change your underwear daily, but I'm not so sure now !? vomit-smiley-9529.gif

In all seriousness, no matter how much you think you sweat, 3weeks (or 1-2weeks in the case of your other shorts) your bare, sweaty ass in your shorts is going to product a nasty environment. I'm amazed your'e not getting infection or saddle sores.

I wouldn't even consider sniffing my shorts after a ride !?!?!

Shorts often do have an anti-bacterial pad. This doesn't mean you don't have to wash them!
