Shorter, higher stem for Boardman Hybrid Team

Can anyone 'in the know' tell me what size stem I need to fit my boardman Hybrid (size large). I fancy it's an inch too large for me so I'd like to get a shorter (than the current 100mm) stem and possibly one that brings the handlebars a little higher too, which I believe is called a raised stem.

Is it a difficult job to fit? Thanks

you can run a 60mm ish stem. most are angled a little (5deg ish) but you can get steeper angles. You can also get adjustable ones that can tilt right up nearly vertical. They are ugly as hell though.

    Boardman hybrids are LONG

even the medium is pretty long

you can fit a short stem but ultimately, you may be better off with a medium frame....

Thanks. What would be the best way to sell it? It's only 2 weeks old, obviously I don't mind taking a bit of a hit cos I shouldn't have bought the large one. I'm based in Nottingham. It costs £750. Any ideas?

for the sake of a few quid try a smaller stem. also maybe some bars that angle back towards you might help.

seems a shame to sell. what height are you?

One of the Hope stems (an MTB one, but it will probably fit) comes in at a 70mm length and 25 degrees up/down angle. It should bring the bars back and up towards you quite nicely, and you can even eBay your old stem - I did just this last week

I'd be tempted to take it back to the shop and say it's the wrong size. Because it is, by the sound of it. You shouldn't really need <70mm stem on a road/hybrid for it to fit or be comfy, as it'll just go twitchy. Ask to swap for a medium. Be nice and friendly but firm.

Otherwise, it'll sell on the forums/ebay etc.
