Hi guys i have chance of a 2nd hand Ragley MMMbop with DT Swiss forks and a set of wheels so need to buy other components, but not sure wether to buy it or buy an On-One 456Evo or a Saracen Zen X its down to these 3 bikes. The price i can get the MMMbop at is a good price especially when the forks are £500+. So the MMMbop to complete and On-one will be a similar price making them about £200 cheeper than the Saracen. So thats putting me off the Saracen as i need other stuff like tools helmet etc. The MMMbop really appeals to me but is an 18" Frame which im not sure about as im only 5ft 9" and also being 2nd hand no warranty unlike the others (but i know the guy who has it and its in great nick and been well looked after). So any advice is really welcome

I wouldn't worry about the size of the ragley - i've been on an 18" frame and i'm 6ft10". If anything it was a little small for regular xc riding, and the slack head angle also makes it slow on the flat, but point it downhill and it was great.

I don't think warranty on hardtail frames is much of an issue. If the guy before rode it and it worked, then I'm sure it'll be fine. I've had about 10 bikes over the years and never once had a frame problem, not known anyone whose had one either.

Don't know anyone with a Commencal or Ragley Piglet then
Seriously though I have an Mmmbop, great bike.I'm 5'6" and ride a 16" but my mate has an 18" and that feels pretty much the same but i'd need a shorter stem.He had DT forks on his but swapped them for Pikes. There's been no issues with Mmmbops and if you know the guy and owt happens get him to claim on warranty

One of my 10 was an old Commencal Sub, a fairly nice single pivot XC bike. But I see your point; some manufacturers put out bad batches. There seems to be less trouble with cracking hardtails than full sus from what I read on BR though.
