mounting chainrings

A quick one, but a toughie - I'm dropping a new BETD ring onto an M960 chainset. The teeth aren't particularly sculpted like OEM rings, but at two places, two teeth are shaved down slightly so their points are removed. They are at opposite sides of the ring. I can either mount the ring so the shaved teeth are behind the arm, and opposite, or at 90deg either side of the arm.
Any ideas?

See the nipple? That lines up with the other ones or the crank arm."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Might have to do a FAQ on this."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Another quick question; I've removed the outer ring off of an XT M760 chainset and need some narrower bolts to run it as a double. As there is no description which explains, I can only go on the name... are thesewhat I need?

Shoud be fine."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
