Tired tyres

I know there will be many riding variables before I ask but how many miles do you get from your back tyre ? no tandem answers please.

    I've just done approx 4500miles on my rear Krylion carbon and got my first P..... A yesterday, while changing it I noticed it's flat at the bottom, no pun intended! i.e it's lost it's rounded profile.
    Maybees it's time to replace it!

    I've noticed M/bike tyres have a rounded profile same as a bike obviously to hold the road as the machine is "banked over" on a bend , a car has a flat profile, I guess it needs 4 points of contact to stay connected to planet earth. So is the correct time to change a tyre is when it has lost it's profile?

    I change either when it looks knackered or I start getting punctures, whichever comes first.
