WTF would you need your own coach when riding for a WorldTour team anyway?0

I don't think it's that uncommon, Lance used to have Carmichael (sp?) and of course....Ferrari, for example. You live and learn. At any rate, you live0

Trained under the same coach for years, got the results that got you into the team, loyalty to that coach?
Why not?Remember that you are an Englishman and thus have won first prize in the lottery of life.0 -

ah, didn't think of that. Still think its a bit weird though, why pay out when you can use whats available for free at one of he best cycling teams in the world? Also, contractually your team pays you to do things their way, they are your bread and butter so going elsewhere for coaching seems a little off...oh well, each to their own.0 -

A lot of the teams don't have coaches, just DSs, which isn't really the same thing.Twitter: @RichN950 -

Fine fine, I give up. I'm going to go an argue with Iain on the Giro Stage 3 thread...0

Suppose cycling's not like many other sports in that most of the time the athlete trains on their own, or maybe with riders from other teams that live locally. They only seem to come together as a team at training camps.
That said of course, you would expect the team to say pretty much what should be done and when, especially when that team places such importance on marginal gains.0 -
First lesson of the new training plan- how to stop your legs falling off after 200km.0
