I've just downloaded the OS map 1:50 with contours but don't seem to be seeing anything ( except the roads ) on the map screen on the device. Are the contours just there for the PC?
Have I got the setting correct in the system. Going through the folders System / Map / Map Info Select Map, I have ( for some reason ) got 3 maps enabled. The first is the Basemap which came with the device and the other two are British Isles Contours but they are worded slightly differently. They are shown as :
British Isles Contours OSM British Isles ( Contours-Routable ) OS50
OSM British Isles OS50tt OSM British Isles ( Contours-Routable ) OS50

I thought I had only added one new map.

All three are enabled, should it be just one?

Enable the one you want to use.

If I disable the basemap then I end up with no roads at all so that was why I had all 3 enabled.

Seriously, would it not be easier to look at the occasional road sign.

You don't seem very cut out for all this technology anyway.

In that case it looks like you have not loaded the correct files for the maps or have put them in the wrong place,

What are the map files called and exactly where are they on the device. Please give drive and folder info.

    e,g. z:\stuff\any\filename

    Download the file osm_routable_gmapsupp.zip
    from here http://planetosm.oxilion.nl/~lambertus/garmin/routable/01-04-2012/8db88904338bc482f06570669ad6f325/

extract the file from the zip file and put it on your device on the microsd card in the folder garmin

Managed to sort it and all is fine. Just done a 47mile ride to Forest of Bowland and the map, etc has been really good now I know what to do.

Jim453 must be a comedian. well, I think he thinks he is.
