I picked up the bike on Friday (4th May) and have been out on it twice now. It's my first DH/freeride bike and yet I found that there was literally no time needed to get used to it, by the end of the first run I'd forgotten it was new. I was apprehensive about getting the bike because I've read some negative stuff about x-fusion suspension but I can say that I'm finding both the forks and shock really nice so far. Here it is:

Anyone else got one?

Schweeet, budget DH/FR bikes are really good these days, that looks like no exception - enjoy!

  • Thanks guys, I'm really happy with it :) I'm just getting into DH, hence the bike, and to be honest it seems to be perfect for what I want so far and ripe for upgrades when I feel the need. I reckon I shouldn't need to change anything for a while though, just need to ride it as much as possible!

I reckon the only thing I'd do to it would be to stick a dual crown fork on there, but it's not really a necessity, should be fine as it is for the moment. Like you say, just ride!

The reason I picked the Status 1 over the 2 is because I kinda figured I'd want to upgrade the forks and shock eventually and the dual crown Domain on the Status 2 is horrible, really heavy and looks cheap. Anyway the dual crowns are something for the future, definitely don't have the money for that at the moment!

I wouldnt say you need a dual crown fork unless you get into proper downhill racing.

stick a totem on there and it would be perfect.

    Lovely bike though.

    my kinda machine...

Coil is the way, my next bike will be a coil :) air just doesn't compare when its gets rough n steep.
  • I'll update this thread with any upgrades I make but to be honest so far it feels really good out of the box so I probably won't do anything for ages. I'm half tempted to change some things purely for aesthetic reasons i.e. stem, bars and grips but I really have no complaints with how these perform so far so I can't justify spending the money until I find a proper reason. Anyway I'll keep you updated on how it feels as I ride it more and post more pics if I have any good ones so thanks guys.

Well tbh honest i wouldn't bother replacing anything until parts start to wear out unless your going to swap or sell certain parts lol .

Yeah it's really nice. Haven't been out on it as much as I'd like yet but I'll keep updating with pics and developments as they come.

So far I'm finding it really nice. With the fork and shock on the Status I only have rebound control, I think the stand alone x-fusion models have far more in the way adjustments, so there's not much to play around with which I was a little afraid of but so far so good. I've been out on it 3 times now so need more time to find potentially negative stuff but over these few rides I've gone faster and ridden with more confidence than ever and I guess I wouldn't feel that way if any part of the bike wasn't so good. As for the build quality of the x-fusion stuff it feels really solid and looks nice so so far I'd recommend it but if I come across any problems I'll post here and let you know.

beautiful looking bike! what size is it and how does it pedal? I've got a 09 Specialized SX Trail that I'm thinking of replacing but it pedals really well and is awesome on the downs..
