Newbie best bike for £1000

I'm after buying myself a new hardtail after not having one for a good few years, ive got £1000 to spend on one so i'm after something that i can upgrade further down the line if i get back into it. I like the 2012 kona cinder cone and trek 6500 d but has anyone got any suggestions as to what a good bike would be for that price, thanks Cameron

What sort of terrain will you be riding? Do you ride hard/heavy rider?

i ride pretty hard and like to get out of the saddle, as for terrain it will be a mixture of road and light cross country as a commute to work

The Trek 6500 is a good buy as has the Reba fork. The Cindercone is quite a lot more lowly specced.

I'd take a look at the Boardman Pro too, great XC bike for the money.
