Afternoon all I plan on riding Cwmcarn for the first time tomorrow, after getting my new canyon I think it's time. I'll be riding there (5 miles) and riding to the top but whats the best way to get to the top?

  • follow the signs for the red route?

Assuming you're starting form the trail head?

yeah, i think you have to tell us where you're riding from

there's a few different routes obviously depending on where you're coming from :D

Ride up the path next to the drive from the main road and you'll come out at the bottom of the car park. Stay right through the car park and you'll come to the start of the Twrch Trail.

I'll be riding up cwmcarn forest drive. and want to ride the red run
  • Then when you get to the carparks, turn into the 1st one on the right :)

The trail head and maps etc are down the bottom of the carpark, impossible to miss!

Then just follow the signs round, all very well signposted etc and there are usually loads of people on there if you aren't sure!

as said above, go in the first carpark on the right as you come up the drive. the trail starts at the far corner - all well signposted.

they're starting to charge for parking as from tomorrow - just for future reference :D

I finally went Tuesday night and did the red run while it was quiet and dry, I went up the tarmac road to the top and then did the twrch trail on saturday night and although tiring is a great ride. I'll be going again during the week. :D
