Does it simply mean that the pad section is replaceable?

Eg:

Vs

If I buy the shoe, does it come with the pad? Is there any advantage to getting the shoe?

Thanks

    Different things.
The shoe one is a brake that accepts a replaceable pad - yes it comes with a pad fitted.
The other one you replace the whole thing once worn.
