edited May 2012 in MTB buying advice
At the end of this month i'm looking to upgrade to a full suspension mountain bike upto the value of £1500, the bikes i've been looking at are
1. CANYON NERVE AM 6.0. http://www.canyon.com/_uk/mountainbikes ... tml?b=2563

2. MERIDA ONE-FORTY 900-D. http://www.merida-bikes.com/en_gb/bike/ ... rty+900-D+

3. MONDRAKER TRACKER R. http://www.mondraker.com/12/eng/bikes/TRACKER-R/229-2

4. LAPIERRE X-CONTROL 310. http://www.lapierre-bikes.co.uk/mtb/cro ... 10#onglets

Any help and opinions on these bikes would be apprieciated, alternatively any suggestions on other bikes.

Thanks Paul

Easier if you post links - not everyone memorises specs.

I think he is trying to sound intellectual and means LaPierre. And nothing wrong with them.

Canyon is the clear winner of this bunch.

Here's another one worth considering from Germany:

Which ever bike you buy I would very strongly suggest you choose it based on having test ridden as many on your list as you can. People's opinions on here despite being well intentioned will almost always be slightly skewed towards their own bikes which may be totally unsuitable for you. At that price point you are not going to get a lemon.

After saying all that, my advice would be to buy the Trance ;)
2011 Giant Trance Ltd, 2016 Revs, XT bits etc.

I really like the sound of the canyon, the only thing that puts me off is that its shipped from abroad and i'm a little nervous spending so much money on a bike i cant test ride. Also what if it breaks and the warranty side of things? I also like the Merida, the added bonus with this bike is that there is a dealer within a mile of my house. So any views on either bike would be good.

Also means 'stone' in French, which is a bit more relevant maybe to mtb?

    Er OK.
As a matter of interest, what's a potato?

Got a 2005 trek 4300 disc, not worth transfering any parts over as its showing its age now and was only a budget buy anyway. I'm thinking that I'll either get the MERIDA ONE FORTY 900 D or the CANYON NERVE AM 6 as they seem to have slightly more shock travel which i think would benefit my 90kg weight.
Does anybody have any reviews on the MERIDA as i'm struggling to find any? Its just i like the paint scheme and the look of the MERIDA more than the CANYON, but if the bike is no good i'd rather go with the lesser looking bike but the BETTER bike.

    Thanks

Is YOUR caps lock BUTTON broken?

A lot of people on this forum own Canyons so I would expect a bias towards them. They seem to be very good value bikes but they are only available mail order from Germany as far as I'm aware so it is hard to try them out for size and feel.

You can't see the bike when you are riding it, buying one solely for the paint job would be a bit silly.
