So like an idiot I pulled my pedals off without thinking about which side is which. I can't see L or R stamped on them anywhere. How can I tell them apart without risking the threads in my cranks?

TIA

If there's really no markings, use your thumbs. Got another set Of pedals to compare the threads ?

Just try fitting them. If its the wrong one, you will struggle to get it to even engage, and if it does somehow engage, your gonna hurt your thumbs before you damage the threads.

Look at the flat area where the spanner goes.

    Spot the difference?

One will be smooth the other will have some lines on it.

left has a ring running around the silver part just before the threads
