Hi

Trying to avoid being one of those particularly irritating newbies that reposts the same question time after time after time and I have searched the forum but not seen this particular one addressed. I have extremely limited funds and wish to acquire a road bike, I have been offered a 2002 Avanti Vivace Pro with the following spec for £200:
Avanti Vivace (Pro series) road bike - purchased in 2002, was not in regular use for 2.5yrs
Full aluminium frame and fork (7005 series), size Medium.
Shimano 9 speed Tiagra drivetrain with Ultegra chain. Brakes are Shimano Sora. Shimano 105 clipless pedals and shoe cleats included.
Pedals and Chain replaced in the last six months.
Selle Italia (Octavia) seat.
Wheels are Bontrager,good condition(worth £200)

And a Giant scr 2.0 for £150 (no further spec!).

Picked my OH up a Specialised Dolce 2011 earlier in the week and would like similiar, I am 6'2" and quite leggy, currently doing under 4 miles a day but if I find a bike I love like the Specialised I will happily be doing more miles for pleasure I fully do realise that my budget is ridiculous but I want us to both start getting into cycling and can then look at upgrades. Once other essentials are out of the way! Thank you all so so much for assistance and advice :)

However I do feel a complete numpty as I realise this would probably be better placed in the road section. Got confused because it's initial use will be commuting, sorry!

    I'd lean toward the Giant.
I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.

Thank you, are they better generally? I was thinking perhaps that, never heard anything bad about Giant and never heard anything about the other one! Would you know what sort of size I'd need it to be? Thank you so much for your reply :)
