From the Beastie Boys. 47 is too young.

    R.I.P. MCA

As you say 47 is just far too young

Saw The Beastie Boys on their Licensed to Ill tour at the Brixton Academy. There were loads of tabloid hacks and photographers outside ready to jump on either the band or the fans. One of them shouted at me that I was supporting people who abused crippled children, I told him to "F*ck Off!" and I was quoted in the next days 'Sun' and described as a, and I quote, "a loud mouthed obnoxious youth".....happy days!

sad news indeed - he had the strength to start a riot at the royal court shame he couldnt have found the strength to defeat the cancer - it is a hateful disease - rip MCA.

  • A sad day.

My commiserations to his family and friends.

I will have Ill Communication on my turntables tonight.

    Very sad.

Mrs is away this weekend, so time to pump up the volume in tribute.

I think Paul's Boutique was the more critically acclaimed work...

Great sampling of Root Down by Jimmy Smith. I love both tracks.

Thought I'd chuck this up on a post. I'm no Beatie Boys or Coldplay fan tbh, but a nice tribute all the same I thought.

    No likey, no replyie

B Boys were seminal in my cultural upbringing. To this 40 year old this is waay bigger news than Cobain. They were around longer and had a much bigger impact. Their music was varied and they morphed over time.

Can't believe someone so full of life and creativity is no more. Very sad.

I will find out just how truly awful this "tribute" is this evening, but put it this way, judging by most of Coldplay's "music" I don't hold out much hope for it.

It's a nice fitting tribute, no more, no less. You're not expected to buy it.

No apologising for Necrothreading this, but I dug out "Awesome I shot that" as the GF couldn't believe why I was so upset about no more BB. If you have never had the chance to watch the three live then this is an amazing way to do so.

Go rent from LoveFilm or Buy on Amazon. The point of view from the audience members shooting the footage is brilliant.
