hi,
I have recently developed a desire towards the road bikes after years of mtb riding and looking for an entry level bike to start. I live in Turkey and the prices are a little bit more than UK. I narrowed down my choices to 2 second hand bikes and need help to select one.
first is a bike with a scott speedster s30 frame with a 105 set, fulcrum 7 wheels, carbon handlebars and seatpost which can be seen here (page is in turkish though)
http://www.erdoganlarbisiklet.com/v2.0. ... r-s30.html
second one is a cannondale caad9 with a tiagra set (mostly), alu handlebars, shimano r500 wheels that can be seen here
http://www.sahibinden.com/ilan/alisveri ... 478/detay/
first ones components are better but cannondale frame is superior (and better looking) to scott I think . both have the same price around 900 euros.
which one would you recommend?
thanks alot

CAAD 9 gets my vote. Cannondale are the best aluminium frame makers bar none IMHO in this world of plastic fantastic :-)
They have over 25 years of experience and investment into making ally frames and I have not been dissapointed with mine.Yellow is the new Black.0 -
Is a good point to go for the best frame as unless you are buying a top of the range model the manufactures have to cut their costs somewhere in the package & as times goes by you can always replace/upgrade parts.
Only thing I would question is have you ridden either bikes? If not you may be limiting yourself and not looking at other alternative brands. Personally I tried about 5 bikes before I settled on my current ride.Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.0 -
Try as many as you can, it can be worth going for the best frame but only if it suits.
tried a few different models recently as I couldnt decide type of bike was best. models inc scotts speedster, cannondales caad & synapse, specializeds allez & secteur. Scott was the best/most comfortable fit for me by far.0 -
thanks alot for the replies.0

Cannodale caad 9 review

Here are a couple of reviews for both bikes. I don't know anything about the the Scott, but I do own a Caad 9 it's a fantastic bike/ frame sure footed, great handling, quiet, relatively light and comfortable and in Matt black looks the the puppies privates. I don't know how much they are in Turkeycestershire but they'd re going for about £500 - £600 here on eBay and in classified adds. I was going to sell mine, but I may keep it, it is such a nice bike, and one of the last frames built by Cannondale in USA.
If you can you need to try and ride both bikes and see which one suits you the best.
Edit: Here is another review of the Caad 9
