No WBA - Shorts.
Anyone know of or wearing any baggy cycle shorts that don't break the bank? looking for *some* rain/water protection and pockets! Kinda like cargo shorts!
Ideas?

The Endura Hummvee's are probably the sort of thing you're after, and know that they're popular - they come in at around £45 in most places.
For something a bit more streamlined there's always the Surface Liquistretch option. I've been more than happy with mine, as has iPete (I think I'm okay to say that). They're £40ish too (Evans currently have some XL and XXL at a bargain price of £20!), making them half the price of the Rapha Touring Shorts which are also pretty decent.0 -
Surface liquistretch or Rapha touring [come sale time but lack pockets].
Done many many thousand miles in the Surface shorts, very good, repel some water and dry quick.
edit: beaten to it0 -
humvee's fit nicely for cyclists* and handy pockets - I have both the 3/4 and shorts.

I found that the fit for the Hummvees was not really compliant to my body shape - small waist and big thighs. I had to go for the XL size to get them over the bum and thighs, but then they were sloppy on the waist. The L would not go over my bum.......0

Have you tried the Endura Singletracks? The cut is slightly different to the Hummvees.0

Yep surface liquistretch! Do it!- Genesis Croix de Fer

I don't like the Humvees cos they've got a silly "map pocket" on the rear that's kinda like a doublearse.
I've got some Endura Zyme shorts like these

Unlined, so you can wear over your Lycra if you want. The popper fastener doesn't, so you'll need a belt or sew on a velcro reinforcement.Misguided Idealist0 -
Ordered some Surface Liquistretch from Evans on Monday on the deal and they're still not here and Evans aren't responding to any chase up. I am ringing them shortly to read them their palms.Trail fun - Transition Bandit

+1 for Surface Liquistretch too. although they're much flimsier than my Endura Humvees, they're comfy, repel water and look smarterCommuting between Twickenham <---> Barbican on my trusty Ridgeback Hybrid - url=http://strava.com/athletes/125938/badge]strava[/url0

My local Cycle Surgey has some Specialized ones reduced to £39.99, which includes padded inners
I picked up a pair last week and they're good for the price.
They also had some at £49.99 but I really couldn't figure out the difference!Black Specialised Sirrus Sport, red Nightvision jacket, orange Hump backpack FCN - 7

I've tried on a few cheap ones recently:
Sombrio Lowline £27: Quite a nice slim fit but quite shiny, synthetic material and came without a padded liner.
Specialised Trail £40: Quite shapeless and baggy, but good liner.
Specialized Enduro £50: Really quite nice, good fit (on me at least) and nicely made with a good liner, still £50 though and I was after something really cheap.
I'm currently waiting for a pair of Polaris Transition 3/4s £22 and a pair of Kona Smiley £28 to try on.
Edit: @London_Falcon, if you're talking about the Trail and Enduro shorts at Cycle Surgery they are quite different, but some labels may have got mixed up I suppose.0 -
Yes, those were the ones. I found the cheaper ones were actually a better fit on me. Probably says more about my body shape than anything else though!
Agreed that the liner is good on both.Black Specialised Sirrus Sport, red Nightvision jacket, orange Hump backpack FCN - 7

muddy fox baggies from sports direct. Cost me £8 and are splash proof. However I find the padding in them too forward so I wear normal padded cycling shorts under them too.0 -
I got some Bench shorts, a zipper has gone. So stick with cycle specific brands. Mkay?I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.0

Bought a pair of Ground Effect shorts about 6 years ago - bulletproof. Still use them regularly. These are the nearest thing they do these days - http://www.groundeffect.co.nz/product-d ... AN-SHO.htmFCN 3 / 40
