RS Revelation RL Air Setting Help

Could anyone help me with the air settings on my Revelation RL 140 forks.

These are the first air forks that I have owned. I have been trying to set them up but the pressure seems to be way off the recommended. I am 85kg and the manual states that they should need around 127psi +/- but this only gives me around 15mm sag. Following the manual I set to the recommended and then reduced the psi until I got it to 35mm 27% sag but at this the air is only 85psi which is why I am a bit concerned.

I have been for a ride at the lower air setting and it feels good but I did bottom out once on a drop off.

Could the recommended be that far out or is the something wrong.

Read the info in the FAQs?

Set your sag as needed and match the neg air +- some and adjust as required.

Yeah followed the guides matching the +/- but it just seems a massive difference between the RS chart setting of 127psi and mine at 85psi.
Is it possible to differ this much?

Guides are just that, should really say rough guide.
I set my revs up at the weekend and with the amount recommended off the sticker, the forks hardly move.
Set it to what works sag and feel wise and don't worry about the figures. Other than writing them down for future reference.

Ok Thanks. So it is best to go with the sag rather than recommended psi then.
I must admit they did feel a lot better set to the correct sag.

Is it ok to bottom out the odd time though or does it need slightly more air?

Yes, go with what suits you.
Depends, if your bottoming out when doing something bigger than usual, big drop etc then yes. If it's bottoming regularly, then prob need to rethink psi.

It should bottom out at least a few times each ride or you are not using all the travel.

You will find that the fork will 'bed in' after a few rides. when i first had mine the pressure was alot lower than the recommended (thats too high anyways), but after say 1-2 months i needed more pressure to get the sag i needed.

seals and o-rings etc. need to stretch and wear a little bit for everything to run smoothly with less stiction.

    dont worry about it.
