2012 Shimano acera 9 speed

Hello, I'm building myself up a cheap hardtail for knocking around cannock chase and have seen what I feel is a good deal on a complete 2012 acera 27 speed groupset, £100 for the complete groupset excluding brakes. I know it's not going to compare to XT as on my normal steed but has anyone had any experience with it and would it compare to 9 speed deore for feel and reliability under enthusiastic use.....my last acera was of pre-2005 vintage !
