Olympic Road Race - Where Will You Be Watching?

First week from Italy, second back in Singapore.'I started with nothing and still have most of it left.'0

Bump.
So will there be a posse of forrumites in Richmond Park/The Temperance?
I think a relaxing view from London and a lot of time drinking is preferable to the inevitable chaos around Dorking, especially as I didn't cough up cash to LOCOG for what should be a free event. It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.0 -
All this stress... i just don't know if i can really be bothered. I know its a huge event, but the ticket fiasco left a bad taste and i think i'll end up watching at home so i can actually enjoy it. Considering catching the train down to Hampton for the TT though...0

Group of 6 us coming down from the Midlands with 4 tickets for Box Hill. Will have to draw lots, but given that they say entry is restricted after 10.30, and our train doesn't get in until 10.30, may be a wash out anyway. Our collective fall back is this wineyard thing, (food, beer + wine) which looks too good to be true!0

See, if you just accepted the olympic road race is a pointless chipper and didn't worry about it, you'd be a lot happier.Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0 -
oh i know that much Iain, was just wanting to at least taste a little of the Olympic spirit  so its either the pub or the couch for me... after a quick ride in the morning of course...0

So, anyone know if there's a big screen in Richmond Park?0

Have looked into this: no info anywhere to suggest that there will be one. Deal-breaker for me, that.
Consequently, we'll be heading to the Denbies Vineyard thing for men's race.
I'm hoping a GB win or loss will be better shared with drunk cycling fanatics, as opposed to just drunk fanatics.0 -
Perhaps one of our local rorumites can ride over to the park and check? The structure for the big screen and PA system on Box Hill's Donkey Green (or whatever that space at the top near the cafe is called) is already up.0

Not cool.
How many other Brits are hoping for Boonen to win? I would love to see a rider like Boonen win. Well anyway apart from a wheel-sucking sprinter like Cav would be great. Hopefully we get a true classics/one day racer winning this olympics!0 -

Do your levis jeans have an enormous LEVIS JEANS logo on them?
Unenforceable surely: what's the IOC regulation logo size above which a garment is no longer officially sanctioned? Just think that's such a ridiculous rule. I will be flouting it about a km up the road, sitting on my esky full of beer.0 -

Well, we wouldn't have designed the course very well if that were to happen!0 -
A couple of club mates and I will be watching on the A24 part of the Box Hill loop, somewhere near the King William IV pub in Mickleham. Although they'll be going past at speed, we will get 9 chances to see the riders.Put a hump in your back
Shake your sacroiliac
And ride on0 -
I shall be parking in the field below Box Hill and hopefully get a spot just after the food station ie; just outside the restricted area.
Then it will be a quick run down the fields to the A25 and into Dorking to watch on the big screen at Meadowbank.0 -
For the other race on Sunday I have discovered the Cloggies have taken over Alexandra Palace and turned it into a kind of expo venue with a beer hall – Holland Heineken House – and will be showing the race on big screens. Hopefully won't be *quite* as rowdy as the Dutch Corner on Alpe d'Huez but should be a good atmosphere.

Wow, this is majorly ridiculous.
I will be in my new QS jersey and cap watching on a big screen in Blackheath (last two hrs only).
No one has mentioned it but LMNH is showing it in HD on a big screen.Contador is the Greatest0
