I'm after a translucent/see through gilet or waterproof, I'd prefer something which isn't boil in the bag if possible. Like the world and his wife I've received the Planet X newsletter and see that they have these reduced, saying that they're good enough for Liquigas.

Anyone got an Outwet gilet/waterproof or used one? Would you recommend it? Is Outwet kit decent quality?

Unless you're an unusual size then you'd probably be best to take a chance and order one (like I just have). With the 40% off it's pretty cheap so even if it's only ok for commuting duties then it'll do me. I almost bought one last time they were on offer, but they were out of small and medium by the time I looked. They've got no small left in the jacket already so I've ordered a medium and hoping it comes up small. If not I can just take it back anyway.

    Found a sizing guide:

    Sizing:
    S up to 36" chest
    M 37-38" chest
    L 39-40" chest
    XL 41-42" chest
    2XL 43-44" chest
    3XL 45-46" chest

    (from here)

Thanks Ama. I did go ahead and order anyway, ordered a medium and a large and will send the one back which doesn't fit as well. I e-mailed PX, they said this would be fine but reckoned I'd probably go with the bigger of the two.

I have one, actually got the 2XL (43" chest). It's a weird material, quite stiff but also packs up small. Reason I went for it was the velcro fastening rather than zip (I figured it would be less hassle). In hindsight though I'd prefer either a zip or one with only sections of velcro rather than full length. The velcro is very 'sticky' to and make sure the bottom bits are flush otherwise you'll wear a hole in the front of your shorts... Keeps drizzle and wind off though and I didn't overheat wearing it even on hills but I kinda expect that from any gilet.

My jacket arrived today. Sizing I'd say is close to the guide I posted above - my chest is about 37" and the Mediumn fits me fine. Not tried it out yet, but looks pretty decent for £33.

Mine arrived Saturday too, but like you had chance to try it out. I'll be sending the medium back, the large is about right for me, so the sizing isn't too far off.
