Brakes upgrade

I have two issues I would like advice on -
1. New brake calipers
I have 2010 Sora levers and unknown brand brake calipers. I'm considering upgrading to 105 calipers instead. Would I need new levers to use these with? The current set up is - triple chainring with Sora front mech, Tiagra rear, 9spd cassette (all 2010 versions).
2. New brake pads
I've been using Shimano Ultegra pads (http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/shimano-ulte ... -prod1425/) which seem ok, but I have Koolstop Eagle 2s (http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/koolstop-koo ... prod18805/) on my touring bike and they seem to work well. Is there much in it?
I've thought about getting the metal pad holders with replaceable inserts but these seem pricey - are they worth the expense without also upgrading the calipers?
I'm a cautious descender so anthing that can make me feel better would be a worthwhile spend in my book!

Perfectly compatible
Pads is a debatable issue, bit like which saddle is comfortable... I am happy with the standards, some are more demanding.
The new brakes will come with new pads in cartridge holders, so problem solvedleft the forum March 20230 -
Excellent! Thanks for that :-)0

Just seen this -
"Must be used in conjunction with ST-5700, ST-6700 or ST-7900 STIs for correct leverage ratio"
I'm guessing my levers fall into one of these categories then??0 -
It's a disclaimer, in case you die they can always say that you didn't use the correct lever.
If the pull is slightly different all you have to do is to place the pads a tad closer or further apartleft the forum March 20230 -
OK, great - thanks for clarifying0
