Rim width?

What is the minimum width rim people are running 2.35 tyres on? Just wanted a gauge as to weather they actually perform any different on a much wider rim? I'm trying 2.35 Hans Dampf on Easton ea70 rims with internal 18mm- does this seem to skinny?

err never had rims that thin

mavic 231 were the thinnest i have ever used (along time ago), but if the tyre fits.... (maybe too round)

I would say 23-25mm but as my hardtail has 31mm and my freeride has 34mm I may not be the best to answer this
