29er - Specialized, Trek or Felt

Hi,
looking for a bike to commute on (mainly) but also to take on some gravel and woodland trails. Have been thinking a 29er for stability and speed, and because I've had a 26er before and want to try something new. Front forks with a lock out would be good, but as long as not too heavy. Budget up to £1,000.
I am considering the following:
Trek 8.5 Dual Sport

Felt Nine Comp
http://www.feltbicycles.com/USA/2012/Mo ... -Comp.aspx
Specialized Crosstrail Pro
http://www.specialized.com/gb/gb/bc/SBC ... =0&scname=
I'm drawn to the Felt because there are less of them around. The best advice on the forum seems to be to try a few bikes out, but on the basis that I'd try two sizes of each (and need to find a LBS who has them in stock) if someone can help me get my list down to two then I'd really appreciate the help!
Alternatively if i've missed something else I really should consider please tell me!

the trek and the spesh you linked are perfect for what you describe but are not designed for 29er duties offroad. if you decide you may want to get muddy and start enjoying riding rather than just commuting maybe the felt?
What about one of these?
