Hey Guys,

Finally had enough of the tube and trains so taking the plunge on cycling. Got the bike and the gear so just need to do it. Does anyone have any recommendations on a route from Putney Bridge to Tate Modern? I was thinking of sticking north along embankment then crossing over at Lambeth Bridge?

Would be good to hear some recommendations!

Cheers

I think that is a good route. South of the river is quite slow so crossing at Lambeth is probably best...

Cheers Clarkey, will give that a go to start off. I guess part of the fun is trying out some different routes.

once you've got used to the faces on the Putney Bridge / New Kings Road / Embankment route you can share your stories of glory and/or humiliation here. Alot of the posters do the same route as you (including me!)

    What are you riding?

Thanks for the link looks like it going to be a fun ride! I got a 2012 langster, first time on a road bike, first time fixed wheel and first time spds so bit of a baptism of fire. Going to take it out locally to get used to the setup but expect more humiliation then glory... At least to start!

Any recommendations on "better" times to commute? I'm guessing earlier is better?

It's always pretty busy but once you're on Embankment it makes no odds really as you have the cycle super highway whizzing you along. I'm either on a blue fixed Pearson or a black geared Hewitt. Say hi and post on silly commuter racing. You'll soon know all the regulars.
