Trying to work out how old my frame is.
Think serial says G113991 but can;t figure out from the various sites what that is.
serial is printed on the vertical frame post just at the bottom near font cranks.

Not sure if first is a G at all, could be a B, could be an 8, could just be 2 dots...

Gordon, I know the folks on here are very knowledgeable but for something as specialist as this you may be better off looking on the Retrobike forum: http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewforum.php?f=12

There is also a very good components dB, just for your reference, which is about as good as it gets: http://velobase.com/Default.aspx

I'd be amazed and impressed in a worried sort of way if anyone could ID it from a (possibly incorrect) frame number, might help if you posted a pic, there are people round here who could probably identify it from that.

I think in the spirit of the OP the piccie should be taken in dim light, from a distance and with a disclaimer saying that it might not be the right bike anyway :)

That would be an 8 which dates the bike to March 1982 - Thursday pm I think!

    Wise guys!
I was meaning more that someone might be able to shed some light on what I might have got wrong in the serial number. I'm pretty sure it's an 80s but the guide here says all 80s bikes begin with a W as the serial.
    http://www.sheldonbrown.com/retroraleighs/dating.html

Anything beginning with a G only has 4 numbers after so it's not a G.
There is no 2nd letter in the style GA11111 so it doesn't list the month.
If it was all numbers, then it'd be a much older bike than the 80s.

Nice bike, I quite like it but would just change the odd minor detail (like the pedals and saddle). If folks are overtaking you on that then it is not because of the bike :)

Might be worth having a poke around here: http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/v/Manu ... atalogues/

Old pic actually, I already changed rear wheel for a black aluminium, pedals for metal black.
    Saddle yeah, needs something else.

Think Raleigh Pursuits came out early 80's with the gloss black one you have 85-86?

On that note, won;t having a white saddle and white tape make it more likely to get knicked? Stands out more.
