routes in the northeast

Hi after deciding to get back into MTBing ive just ordered my new voodoo bantu and wondered if there were any good routes localish to the Newcastle area. ino of a few areas that wouldnt really be classed as trails but you can still make them enjoyable whilst building my fitness back up. but i dont know of any real 'Trails'. any help would be good.
