quick post as rode for first time yesterday - this is my self build frame - Reynolds oversize steel 753 and 653 mix - mixture of old and new components- the Miche wheels ride great - Tiagra gears - Suntour chainset and favourite old Rolls saddle.
frame is 61cm - 74 deg parallel and 99cm wheelbase - goes uphill like a express train

What do you mean by "Reynolds oversize steel 753 and 653 mix "? There is no such thing as 653 tubing, 653 was a marketing name given to a frame made from light weight 531 mains tubes and rear 725 stays. If you have (like I do) 531 light weight main tubes and 753 rear stays then its the 653's predecessor - a 531 Pro frameset.
Do you have a date when the frame was built? 653 was 1986 onwards, 531 Pro was 1981-88.WyndyMilla Massive Attack | Rourke 953 | Condor Italia 531 Pro | Boardman CX Pro | DT Swiss RR440 Tubeless Wheels

we built the frame 18 months ago frame a NOS 753 standard tube set. we also had one tube from a 653 tube set and used that, moved the 753 tubes round one place to end up with an oversize frame. has turned out a great ride and have just come back from a summer trip to Italy including a blast up Passo Pardoi to visit the Fausto Coppi memorial
sorry for the late reply have not been on in a while0 -

Lovely piece of work. Love the colour. Really love the satin seatpost. Is that an old Nitto or Shim AX?
Only thing is the bars look really troubled. They don't know if they want to rotate up nor down, and the brake levers are likewise unsure if they need to ride higher or stay put.
If you're keen to experiment I'd recommend rotating the bars down until the drops are ~10 degrees above horizontal, then sliding the brake levers a up so they're more in reach. Mininal re-taping required.
Enjoy riding it! (can you still say "her" in this day and age?)When a cyclist has a disagreement with a car; it's not who's right, it's who's left.0 -
just to add couple of pics from summer - went to visit "il Campionissimo" at top of Passo Pordoi in Dolomites
