I need a new 9 speed cassette 11t-34t. As light as possible up to about £70
What would be the best choice?

I bought this http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=20677 recently in 11 - 34 flavour. It came in @ 273 grams.0

XT for me too. Can be had around 45. The 32t weighs 256g in 9 spd. Shifting is Perfect. Not many use xtr, yes it's lighter but 3 times the cost.0

better value 282g (11-32T) unless you are competing at the highest level.

If you are craiving lightness,11-32 is always a lot lighter than a 11-34 because of the 4 arm carrier instead of 5 arm.Never really missed the 2 extra teeth,either.2006 Giant XTC

hmm, good to know. Got a 10sp version of that cassette on the way from Rose. And just debating what 9sp to go for for my impending 4X build - reckon it'll be an XT 11-32 as well then"Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes

A road cassette surely? Why would you need a 32 on a 4x bike?
Get some sort of 11/25 road cassette, like an ultegra or eve durace if its in your budget.0 -

Ha, indeed! Should've made it clearer - it'll be a 4X frame but the bike will be used as a general fun bike (BMX track, popping to the shops/pub etc and generally p1ssing about on) Bearing in mind I'm living in the Alps and just popping to the shops requires a 100m+ (vert) climb to get home. Thanks. Think I will go for the 11-34 XT cassette. I'm running a 36t/26t up front so loosing another 2t off the rear will be too much.
No one recommending SRAM or any others?Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -

But shop around i usually get them for around £450 -
Claimed weights suggest the XT is lighter than the PG990 but weight weanies website lists the PG990 as 20 grammes lighter than the XT.
SRAM PG990 comes in some nice colours as well :-)Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
256g is what both my 32t actually weighed.0
