FOD this week-end?

Thinking of going up here on staurday if the weather holds out. As it's quite a trek for us I was wondering if anyone has been here this week and knows what the ground is like?

I'm fairly new to mtb'ing but i have confidence whereas my son is even newer and isn't as confident so i don't want to send him skidding over the edge of a steep drop or something else. Plus if it's too bad it would be a waste of scarce fuel money.
