Cane Creek Crown Race C2 Replacement

I've just noticed the S3 headset is now superseded by the 40 series. Question is; will the newer 40 crown race fit the older S3. Will it be backwards compatible?

    The CC40 has a new built in seal. I am not sure it is the same as the S3.

    + some other bikes.

    I must admit It doesn't look like it fits from the pictures I've seen. I've just emailed them to see what the score is. I'm gonna be pissed if there's no replacement available from Cane Creek for the S3. If I can't get hold of one, and I do have to get a new headset it'll be from someone else and I'll tell them exactly where they can go.

    here is the answer from a man at Cane Creek:
    The bearings and the crown race are compatible between the S-3 and the 40-Series

    So there you go, make of that what you will.
