Oisans & Les Arcs XC holiday
Hi all,
Me & my friend are going to spend couple of weeks in French Alps, July 2012.
After some internet surfing we have chosen Oisans (Alpe d'Huez, probably Les 2 Alpes as well) and Les Arcs regions.
Also it would be great to visit 12 stage of the Tour De France race.
So, the questions are:
Which place is better to stay? Get some chalet somewhere in the middle of those resorts and rent a car.. or stay in the resort, then order transfer to other place? Which way will be cheaper?
Are there any difficulties to visit a stage of the Tour? E.g. roads are closed a day before race or smth like that...
We are kind of experienced XC riders, regulary participate in local XC events for several years hence dig uphill as well as downhill. Is there any restrction to go up by DH route (not the steepest, surely)? As far as I got there are loads of DH paths at those resorts, much more than XC trails..
And last one - Is it good idea to visit Les 2 Alpes for couple of days with XC hardtails as Ive spotted there are only DH routes.
