of course it is, but ask yourself, would you notice any real difference between the two when riding, and if you got the 7, would you spend the money saved upgrading it anyway, oh sod it, get the 8, you know you want to

Base on the assumption you want to stretch to 8.0. The 9.0 stretch for another 500 is even better choice I feel.
Atleast I am looking at the 9.0.

I would say the 8 looks like a much better equipped bike over the 7 if it's realistically in reach though. You don't want to spank a load of cash and then wanting to be upgrading from the offset. (even though it's fun......)

Buy the ES7 and spend the difference on a Rockshox Lyrik RC2DH fork to replace the rather poor Fox Talas R, you would probably even get £300 for the Talas.
