You git, I now have a craving for a nice, succulent pork pie :(

I'll just have to remind myself how close Melton Mowbray is to Corby as that will put me off!

    My Birth Place,

Simon Hallam at Dickinson and Morris, master pie maker , got the only job and job title of any one in the town I envy.

Used to work at Pedigree Petfoods in Melton in the dice lung department, bit different from Simons job.

Could I recomend anyone who is going to the Rutland Cycle classic on Sunday to not only mass for the finish on Sherrad street, but to also pay a visit to Windmill Wheels in Wymondham about six miles out of town at Wymondham.

Its on the course and they sell, Enigmas, High end Colnagos, Bianchis and Kuotas in a lovely setting.

Berkely arms in the village is a great pub too.

Crown inn by the church and Swan and White hart near the finish line in Melton are about the only real pubs left.

Every so often I go the main site of the company that owns Dickinson and Morris and make most if the UK's pork pies. They are very generous with the goody bags they give me. I love going there. Plus, it's fascinating.

The Fox at Knossington has a good outside beer Garden, usually catch a bit of it there.
