I'm currently running stans tyre sealant In my Kenda nevegal tyres they're ghetto tubeless on dt Swiss xr 4.20 rims, I went to coed y brenin today and everything was fine however when I got back home I found that the rear was flat and it's leaking from where the tyre seals against the rim anyone got any ideas how I go about fixing this or do I need a new tyre?

cut open bmx tubes? rim strips? duct tape? IMO the bmx tube method is best for ghetto style tubeless - less reliant on perfect rim/tyre joint.

either way, the answer is most likely to be "more sealant"

Its the cut open bmx tube, how do I get more sealant in now because I can't seem to be able to pull the tyre off I can only pull it away from the side of the rim

erm, by doing just that, pulling the tyre away from the side of the rim? just do that at the "top" of the wheel
  • One option is through the valve. Think all Schrader valves have a removable core. Presta valves some do some don't. You can tell by looking at the top of the stem where the cap screws into has flat edges. If it does then most likely the valve core can be removed. I can confirm Schwalbe presta tubes have a removable core if that helps.

Ok I bought some tyre sealant and the guy in the bike shop put it in for me and pumPed the tyre up and it's still leaking from the same place as before! I think I may need to go back to a inner tube as it just doesn't want to seal in that one place

Have you checked that there is not something under the the tyre bead where it is leaking? Sounds to me like you have a foreign object stuck in there which is stopping the seal. Possibly you have something under the inner tube which is distorting it? Take the tyre off clean up everything and re-fit and it shoud seal fine.

This happened whilst in Wales at coed y brenin, the sealant I bought was specialised airlock and the leak was from the sidewall I'm now. Back home and found out that the specialised stuff does'nt seal punctures as such so I've cleaned out the tyre and bought stans no tubes and everything is ok now!
