Avid Elixir R SL lever play

Ive had several sets of avid brakes, i think i know them well but this one has got me stumped.
Just bought second hand Avid Elixir R SL, brakes work well and pressure up well and have been bled by my self. The lever seems to just hang and flop forward thus having to over reach to grab brake.
Its as if there is play as the lever is first engaged, lever probably sits 20mm further on than normal brake lever situation, and flaps around forward and back, not up down.
Been to several bike shops but none can help.

ive had one to pieces and still the same, i havent had the other one to pieces yet tho.
to get back in it should just pust back in should it not.
