I'm about to invest in a proper bike, well, proper for me anyhow (Dolan Ares SL), and will be insuring the thing as I'm getting no change out of 3k. Any recommendations on cycle insurance companies...or which ones to avoid?!!

You can use the Search function of this forum as there has been many discussions about this before.
Generally it is cheaper to add it to your current home insurance for the remainder of the policy and then look for the best deal on house insurance with your bike included come the next renewal.
Marks and Spenser have been recommended before, but they have recently changed their Ts and Cs. Some have mentioned Barclays as having a special offer on right now for their banking customers, others have mentioned Sainsburys and many have recommended NFU (National Farmers Uniion).
