Hope crown race install

Hi all,
Got a crown race as part of my Hope headset and need it fitting to my Fox forks. It's a split crown race so just slides on easily however I always thought crown races were supposed to sit flush with the fork crown.
However after being slid down a bit more the crown race makes a stop around 2mm north of the crown.
Anyone got a split design (Hope one preferably) on some Fox forks?
Here's a picture of how mine is sitting

Take the old crown race off first."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Hahah, I almost pi**ed myself laughing at this.
However, the laughter stops every time I see the chunk of paint that is missing from my beautiful forks after removing my old crown race with a screwdriver.
All crown races should be split. The idea of having to buy an expensive tool or visit my LBS every time I want to change headset disgusts meCAPTAIN BUCKFAST'S CYCLING TIPS - GUARANTEED TO WORK! 1 OUT OF 10 RACING CYCLISTS AGREE!0
