Which best Road/Trail tyres to get for my 29er?

I'm after changing my tyres on my 29er to more of a road tyre than the 'rocket ron's' I have on now.
The tyre would be used on roads but able to go on trails/bridal paths at the same time without getting punctures and slipping on the trails.
It would be mainly for commuting to work but I will be using a trail the third of the way. I was originally looking at Marathon plus but am beginning to think that this is more of a road tyre only, then there's the specialized armadillo range and the list goes on...
Does anyone know of a good puncture resistant all weather tyre for my 29er that will also last a while too?
Not too much to ask is it?
Thanks

Small Block 8s are pretty hard wearing compared to the Schwalbes, especially the Rons. They will wear down faster than road tyres obviously, so if it's an issue I'd stick a set of £20 wire bead jobbies on there.
Something like a Maxxis Crossmark or Ikon would probably do the job too.0 -
Thanks Toasty I will have a look at the Kenda's & Maxxis.
It least it gives me an idea now on what type of tread I need.0
