What bike do you ride and what would you recommend for 16st 10ib rider?
I am just getting back on my bike after 8 months off.
Please can you advise me if I am too heavy for my Carbon bike and Mavic wheels?
Is Aluminium stronger and would a mountain bike be best until I loose a couple of stone?
Current bike is Scott CR1 Pro and Mavic Elites
Thanks

I reckon I must have been about 23+ stone when I started riding a Carrera Crossfire II 3/4 years ago - Al frame - rode it for a year and a half or so and must have lost a stone or so in that time. The got a Specialized Sectuer - Al frame again - and have been riding it ever since. No weight limit on Spesh bikes. I have had trouble with breaking spokes on cheap OEM rear wheels but am ok (touch wood !) so far on RS10s but have only done 572 miles on them - they are still dead true though and I have never had to do anything to them.
If I had the money I would but a Roubaix tommorow and wouldn't give strength a thought - just check with manufacturers before buying or for the bike you have.0
